Like Old Times (#525)

Back to the regular storyline. I'm hoping to have RO3 wrapped up in the next couple of weeks. I'm sad, but I don't want to leave the comic on an indefinite hiatus while I have a newborn.

Here we are at the end of the comic book. Thanks for indulging me! Now only a few more comics until the end of Rule of Three :'( Back to regular strips next Monday.

I don't know what's up with Kat's nose in panels one and three. I wonder if Kat's misdirection would work for her against the police?

Only one more strip and we're done with the comic book. Thanks for checking out the detour down memory lane! :)

Hazel should have let Ivy slug him :) See you Thursday with another update!

December 4th, 2014

Honestly, I doubt he should have been able to spot hair coming out from under his bed, but hey, suspension of disbelief and all ;P

See you Monday!

If I remember correctly, I drew Richard's bedroom just as the ex he's based on had his set up, just with more bugs ;) However, the Richard that we'll see Thursday looks a whole lot different than the one I drew in the more recent storyline. (IRL Richard looked more like the recent storyline version)

Part 4: Happy Thanksgiving to my US readers! Just a quick comment or two: Yes, he claimed psychic abilities, even when proven false (and it was a fish, not a cat, that “said goodbye” from “beyond the grave” to him); yes, he was a stoner; and yes, I did spray pepper spray onto an ex-boyfriend’s pillow (but not the same one as Richard was based on).

See you Monday!

Don’t forget to check out part 2 from last Thursday!

Part 3: As I stated before, I couldn’t find this comic book before I got into this story arc, so I couldn’t remember all the details from what I had written about 7-8 years ago (some things I remembered, thankfully). That, plus I had to move the story along quickly so I could get things wrapped up sooner. So please take any inconsistencies into consideration. Originally Richard was going to harass Katerli on and off for a long while after they broke up, just like in real life (oh, so many emails from this guy!)

And yes, he did try on my bra once ;)

And don’t forget to check in this coming Thursday for the next strip!

Oops, I almost forgot to post this. Not used to posting on Thursdays anymore, hahahah...

So onto part 2. As you can see, the girls changed a little bit. Ivy ended up having blue eyes, and Hazel's hair got darker. Their mouths changed a little bit too. I'm still getting used to the hand written dialogue as well. I may have changed Richard's mom's name (baby brain, can't remember, nor can I find if it was mentioned anywhere).

*** Don't forget, it's page by page. The gray line is the divider ;)

Alright kids, it's story time! Back in 2006 and 2007 I took a couple of classes over at the ol' community college. In fall 2006, I took a class on fiction writing and the following semester I took one on graphic novels, same professor for both classes. Anyhoo, since I've had the idea for RO3 in my head for years before I did anything about it, I decided to write a short story with Kat, Hazel and Ivy for an assignment for the fiction writing class, which I was then able to use for my final project for the graphic novel class.

Fast forward to when I started getting into the Katerli dating Richard story-arc, I couldn't find the paper comic anywhere, so I had to rely on memory, and with me that's never a good thing :/ Luckily earlier this year I found it hidden away...somewhere, so I was able to match up a bit of the story. But still, there are some inconsistencies.

As you'll see over the next 9 strips, a few things changed from the comic book to the webcomic. As I post each page I'll point out the oopsies and we can all have a nice chuckle at my mistakes. I've also left in all the mistakes and pencil drawings to show how this all started out (plus I'm feeling lazy as hell and didn't want to clean it up much). So let's get started!

Here we have the cover and page 1. Back before I was married, haha... Hand written dialogue, ooh, exciting! I wish I had numbered the pages, so I added in that gray line as a divider (which will be in all of these 9 strips).

Next comic is on Thursday, don't miss out!
